This page contains pictures and some details of models built and/or owned by club members of the Waveney Model Flying Club (WMFC)
Some of the pictures are taken from video so please excuse the quality.

Flair Puppeteer, built and owned by Brian Roe but damaged in an accident, the damaged model was repaired by Graham Wilkes and is now owned by Martin Catling, powered by a 52 four stroke it flies very well.

***************

This model belongs to Ian Fulcher and is a Super Chipmunk done in the colours of the aerobatic ace Art Scholl.

Ian's latest model is a P38 Lightning twin engined fighter built by his dad Ken from an Aerotech kit and powered by two SC52 four strokes. Model flies and sounds superb, well done Ken. The photos are of the model prior to it's maiden flight, an undercarriage fault prevented it from flying on this day.

John Gibson's models occasionally appear at the field, and he does fly them. This one is a Flair Magnatilla powered by a .50 four stroke

**************

A super Tiger Moth model, this 1/4 scale Flair one was built built by Brian Roe and finished in the RAF yellow colour scheme. Powered by a 120 four stroke it has ample power for this large 89" span model.

***************

Roy Shelley showing off his YT International Razorback P47 Thunderbolt.

**************

Tom Cole, one of the "good ole boys" has been a club member for many a year and is a keen builder and flyer..... "this here is a Wifurskin" says he..... of course it is says I.

***************

Graham Wilkes showing off a Flair 1/4 scale Dr1 Tri-plane powered by an SC120 four stroke. this model is one that Graham has had for some time after buying it from fellow club member Bob Wren, it was repainted in the colour scheme you see in the photos.

**************

Hawker Tomtit, built from the Veron kit, this one belonging to Tom Cole.

**************

Another of Graham Wilkes's models, this one started out as a Flair Corsair ARTF powered by a four stroke 120 but now sports an MVVS 160 petrol. Unfortunately this model suffers from a weak wing centre section and although a re-strengthening build was done to this part of the wing it was unsuccessful and the model is now wingless. Perhaps later a new wing will be built from a scaled up plan.

Another MVVS 160 petrol powered model also belongs to Graham Wilkes this time a Flair FW190.

These pictures are of Mike Cole's model, a Flair Extra 300s 140, which is the larger of the two that Flair do, powered by a Laser four stroke.

**************

This 70" span model of an Avro 504 has just been built by John Cowgill and has yet to be test flown. It is completely scratch built and is powered by a Super Tigre 61.

John Cowgill has been at it again and turned out a very nice looking Dalotel aerobatic model.

**************

Ian Fulcher flying a recently acquired Twinjet, powered by two Permax 400 motors.

**************

Martin Mortimer's Phantom.

**************

This model is a Cessna Skymaster by Chas Sugg, he says he's had the model for some time and has brought it out to give it an airing again. Powered by OS 25 and OS 20 two strokes it flies with a fair turn of speed and although it will fly on one engine it has to be nursed as it will stall easily.

This is another of Chas's models, a Sopwith Dove, which was a civilian version of the Sopwith Pup World War One fighter which had it's wings swept to aid stability. The model was built by Chas from a David Boddington plan scaled up to 53 inch span and is powered by an SC70 four stroke, it flies great.

Messy Wot

This semi-scale rendition of a Messerschmitt ME109 has been built by Chas using a spare Acro Wot wing that was laying around, he calls it a Messy Wot.

**************

Another nice model, this one by Tom Cole, a beautifully finished Ryan STA. This model first appeared at the Henham Wings and Wheels Show in the static display and has flown well on numerous occasions. Built from a Sig kit this 72inch span beauty is powered by a Laser 75 engine.

**************

Roy Shelley's model of a Hawker Hurricane, from a Mick Reeves Kit.

Waco YMF3 build

Webmaster Graham Wilkes's 1/6th scale Waco YMF3 biplane powered by an ASP 70 four stroke. To see how the model was built click on the link below the pictures.

Graham likes fast models as well as scale so it comes as no surprise that this his Mig21, built from a Skyways Models short kit (that means just foam wings, cowl, foam decking's and hardware bits, you supply and cut your own balsa bits from supplied  templates) the model originally had no undercarriage and used a take off dolly that was left behind after take off, it then landed on it's belly, it has since been fitted with a set of air retracts. It is powered by an OS46FX and is quite quick........

**************

This model owned by Trevor and Luke Flatt has yet to be flown, it is a P40 Warhawk powered by a 91 four Stroke engine.

**************

A nice intermediate low wing model, an AT40, 40 Two Stroke powered previously owned and flown by Martin Catling, now owned and flown by his brother Paul.

Martin Catling has quite a collection of models and this Harvard 2 is one of them, basically a Tucano or Pilatus PC9 in disguise.

**************

Another Catling model, a P47 Thunderbolt, this time owned by Paul, Martin's brother, the model was built by Paul from a Brian Taylor plan and is modeled on the full size "No Guts No Glory" P47 at Duxford. Paul in his other "spare" time works voluntarily at Duxford on the full size P47's. The close up of the cockpit shows the detail Paul has put into this model, at the time of taking the photo Paul had yet to paint the canopy frames. Final picture shows the model finished.

Graham Wilkes's latest model is a Hawker Sea Fury based on the YT International model but repainted to the correct colours and having the wing rebuilt to put the undercarriage in the correct position and to retract correctly. The model is powered by an MVVS 160 Petrol engine and flies great.

**************

... ...

Tom Cole is a long time modeler of some merit and his latest model, he calls "Mirical Plus " has been scratch built using a spare wing from a long defunct Mustang. Powered by an OS 48 Surpass 4 stroke it flies very well indeed, a credit to Tom's modeling, and flying, skills.

**************

... ...

Another modeler of merit is Chas Sugg who also takes odd wings and fashions a model around it. The model above was no exception, the wing was given to Chas from an Extra that Ian Fulcher had grown tired of and planted it in mother earth and Chas went off with it and built this exceptional model. Initial flight tests proved to be a bit hairy with the tailplane fluttering and literally snapping the tail where it was joined to the fuselage, a safe landing was made and the model taken away to be modified with a much sturdier tail. Subsequent flights have proved the models worth and no more problems experienced with the tail, nice one Chas.

**************

... ...

Ian Fulcher had a new model to show off, a semi-scale 1930's racer of unknown design that he picked up for a song at a Bring and Buy. Powered by a Saito 4 stroke it flew extremely well until a "Y" lead connection for the ailerons came adrift and the subsequent right turn turned into an unrecoverable roll into the adjacent field with terminal results.

... ...

Ian also brought along his latest model, a Bobcat propjet fitted with a 2 stroke engine in pusher mode, the model flew well but did seem a bit underpowered even though the engine seemed to be revving fairly high, perhaps a coarser prop is needed.

**************

These are just a few of the many models that are owned and flown by the Waveney model flying club. We will be updating this page to include pictures of other members models from time to time so please come back and have a look.
