This Dr1 model has been built from the Flair Baronette kit which I bought secondhand and was as seen in the photo above. I fitted an SC52 four stroke and some Futaba radio and apprehensively took it to the flying field, I say apprehensively as triplanes are renown for not flying too well. Well don't the hype this model is a pussycat and flies so well it could be a trainer...... well not quite, but it will loop, roll, fly inverted and even knife edge......... well I had to try it!
This photo shows the Dr1 in its new livery after a strip down and a repaint, a new pilot and guns were added but that was all. It still flies really well but now I like the look of it better. The finish is modelled on the Dr1 as flown by Ltn Fritz Kempf who had the wild abandon to paint his name on the top wing and a taunt on the middle wing, which roughly translated means "still remember me",...... risky to say the least, might as well paint a bullseye on the wing.
